You hear a lot these days about living right andgiving right, but you don’t hear that much abouttalking right. And that’s a shame because it takes doing all three to get you where you want to go in life.
How do I know that talking right is so important? God’s Word. James 3:5-6 says,
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
When it comes to your mouth, you have to understand this:
God cannot perform outside of what you give Him permission to do with your mouth.
When things get hard and you speak incorrectly, you are building the wall that you need to go through. For example, take somebody who gets a few bills and says, “What in the world is going on? I don’t know what we are going to do.” Even though they’re frustrated, they have given hell power to work against them and resisted any wisdom from God that could help them!
Psalm 37:30 says, “The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom….” That means a righteous man or woman should speak like one. Say that out loud! A righteous man or woman should speak like one!
So what happens when times get bad? You should still speak well. What happens when something wrong happens? You still should speak well. What if you are not feeling well? You should still speak well.
We often think the people who speak well are those who are articulate. But that’s not what God says.Instead, the man or woman who speaks right is the man or woman who speaks faith. So speak your faith and expect to see what it is that you say.
