Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace

ReferenceActs 13:12
When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.

Thoughts for Today:

I think it is interesting the way this verse is worded: the proconsul was not amazed at the blinding of Elymas, "he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord". What is it about the teaching of the Lord that amazes you the most? Is it that God loves you unconditionally and wants to have a personal relationship with you? What about God becoming man and dying in your place? The proconsul must have been shocked, "You mean I can be forgiven, made right, and redeemed?" For me, the miracles are nice, but I'll take the one big: God loved me enough to send His Son to die for me that I might live. Unwarranted and undeserved -- this Amazing Grace inspired John Newton to write these words:

"Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me;
I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see!

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.

The Lord has promised good to me, his word my hope secure;
He will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures.

Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun;
We've no less days to sing God's praise, than when we'd first begun."

Questions to Ponder:

For those of you who are followers of Jesus Christ, it is my prayer that we never become hardened to the wonder of the gospel message. For those of you who would like to join God's family it's very simple, pray these words: "God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen."
