Enjoying God’s gift of sex

Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Ephesians 5:4-5
A friend of mine was at a party one time and all the ladies had left the room. So one of the men stepped forward and said, “Alright, now that the ladies are gone, let me tell you a joke I heard.” And as he started in on a filthy story, my friend stepped forward and said, “Wait a minute, I know the ladies are gone, but there are at least a few gentlemen standing around here!”
Do you know what’s really wrong with using impure language? It’s that it trivializes the sacredness of sex. It puts in the gutter what God has made holy. And once you trivialize that holy act, it makes you more vulnerable to falling into sexual sin.
Now, let me say that God is for sex. He created it. And because He made it, the marriage bed should be undefiled. That’s why the apostle Paul in today’s passage says that defiling sex pollutes and destroys that which God has made for good.
You know, a fire is beautiful in the fireplace. It creates warmth and atmosphere. But when you take the fire out of the fireplace and into the living room, it can destroy! And God has given us a beautiful place for the expression of sexual love through marriage. So when it comes to God’s gift of sex, make sure it’s expressed and enjoyed in the God-given boundaries of marriage!
DON’T ALLOW GOD’S GIFT OF SEX TO BE ABUSED BY TAKING IT OUTSIDE OF ITS BOUNDARIES. INSTEAD, KEEP IT SACRED WITHIN THE LOVING BONDS OF MARRIAGE!
