Television evangelist Rev. Creflo Dollar once said, "When you get to the root, you will grow fruit." He was in essence saying, the root of a problem is the cause of the problem. The root feeds and nurtures the entire plant. The same is true with a recurring problem that you may face in life. You cannot solve problem by pruning the stem. You have to get to the root of a problem in order uproot it. When you get to the root, you find the core issue, the foundation on which the problem has been built.
A core issue is a belief that is imprinted on the consciousness. Let us say, for example, that you believe life has to be difficult. Try as you may to make your life easy, peaceful or joy-filled, you will attract experiences and situations that support the core belief. What you may not realize is that you have root rot! There is a rotten belief in your thought system.
All core beliefs manifest themselves as experiences. When something unpleasant happens in your life, call for the core belief. Get still. Take a few deep breaths and ask yourself, "What is at the core of this experience?" In other words, what is it that I think, say or do that supports the existence of this problem. Undoubtedly, your first instinct will be to say that you had nothing to do with what is going on. It's them! It's not my fault! This is the very thinking that will allow your root rot to spread. Remember, you are responsible for every experience in your life. Experiences come to show you what you really believe. Pull up the root, and it will die.
Until today, you may have been pinching off little pieces of a problem just because you did not understand that you must pull the sucker up from the roots. Just for today, closely examine any and all challenges in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to your awareness the root, the cause of the problem. Then ask for guidance about how to plant a new belief that serves a greater good in your consciousness.
Today I am devoted to eliminating root rot and rotten roots from my own consciousness!
