The perfect antidote to fear
November 25, 2011
“And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness…”
Acts 4:29
I remember the first time I went snow skiing. To get up on those contraptions was the strangest feeling on earth. And “confidence” was not a word that described me as I was flying down those hills at what felt like breakneck speeds! However, the more I’ve skied over the years, the bolder and more confident I’ve become.
It’s true that the more you do something, the more confident you become in doing it. And the reason that so many Christians are not confident in Christ—they’re not confidently praying, they’re not confidently witnessing, and they’re not confidently living for Christ—is because they haven’t practiced it consistently.
But as believers, we have boldness and access to God. And the more we come to Him, the more confident we’ll become in trusting Him in every circumstance.
As a Christian, you’ve been cleansed by the blood of Christ and set apart for a special purpose. If you’re not living in boldness, you’re living in fear. So be bold when it comes to doing things for God, trusting that He’ll see you through and knowing that the more you do it, the easier it gets!
