Dear Lord, Heavenly Father, I give thanks I have been given faith in Jesus, the only Savior this world shall ever see. When I compare Your grace and mercy with the other religions of the world, I see how unique You are. May I, as I am able, share with the world the great commitment You have made to save them. "Unfair" July 31, 2012 And He (Jesus) took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them. Mark 10:16 King Herod the Great was a great builder and a bad human being. The ancient historian Josephus records how Herod killed his favorite wife, some of his sons, and a high priest. Scripture records how he tried to eliminate any kingly competition by having Bethlehem's babies murdered. As near as I can tell, Herod now has company in the "bad human being" category. According to the World Health Organization, the Taliban in northwest Pakistan don't like the drones the U.S. has been sending against its leaders. They don't like the drones so much they have decided to fight back. Would you like to know how they are fighting back? They're fighting back by not allowing the estimated 280,000 children living in northwest Pakistan to receive the polio vaccine. That's right, when health officers fanned out across the country which has 22 reported polio cases this year, they were told, "No polio vaccine shall be given until the U.S. stops their drones from flying." Hiding behind children -- what an unusual way for supposed brave men of principle and faith to act. What a contrast there is between their actions and those of our Savior. Scripture speaks about how when the disciples wanted to keep the young from visiting Jesus, they were corrected. Then, with that obstacle removed, Jesus spent some time picking those children up in His arms and blessing them. Indeed, He would do more for those children than bless them. He would, in the immediate future, give His life on the cross, so they might be forgiven and granted a home in heaven. Yes, there is a contrast in faiths. On the one hand, we have a Savior who died to save children and, on the other hand, we have men whose faith allows children to die to save them. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me the direction is clear: I will follow a Savior who gave His life, so we might have life and have it abundantly (see John 10:10).
