Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. – Deuteronomy 8:2 (NIV)
As he prepares the Israelites for the Promised Land, Moses is giving a much-needed perspective. When they enter the Land and prosper, unless they learn from the testing of the wilderness, they will use the very blessing of God to turn away from Him. How about us? When thing seem easy and our needs are met, do we seek Him the way that we did when we were lacking? Realize that the same God who tested the Israelites will test our hearts as well. May we pass that test well.
